Kelley Lynch
Why did you choose a career in health and fitness?I chose a career in health and fitness because heart disease runs in my family. My concerns lead me to adopt a healthier lifestyle. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to work in the industry, where I could teach others how to benefit from better health choices and how to do it more efficiently.
What qualifies you to do this work?I am NASM and ACIM-PFIT Certified, as well as a member of IDEA and PTontheNET. I have been a personal trainer for over 5 years, during which time I have educated my clients on proper form and diet analysis, and I’ve helped numerous clients reach their reduced body fat goals. I also practice Continuing Education activities with other trainers on a weekly basis, and I am a certified Spin instructor.
What is your favorite quote?“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” George Bernard Shaw
What is your biggest training success story?I have a client who didn't care anymore, was overweight and never went to the gym. With my help, she turned around, got motivated, had fun and lost 60 lbs. She now enjoys working out 5 days a week.
What is the biggest health myth?Spot reducing – there is no such thing. You can work a specific area but you have to burn all-over body fat.
What would you do if you could change the world, health wise?I would start with teaching people to eat every 3 hours, then cut out the fat, then cut out the soda, and then get them working out regularly with weights and cardio.
How has fitness influenced your mindset toward life? With hard work and perseverance I can do anything. I did a figure competition in 2005, and I never thought I could do something like that.
What benefits take place in your clients as they get fit?I see how good they feel about themselves when they are working towards a goal and seeing progress. I also see them fitting into clothes they never thought they could wear and how empowered it makes them feel. They have a greater level of confidence and self worth.
